Issuing a note of warning against rebellion inside the party, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday asked the local chapters of ruling party and its student wing to settle disputes among themselves soon, UNB reports.
“Our leader (Sheikh Hasina) has told me that she doesn’t want to see any negative news on Chittagong Chhatra League in newspapers,” he said while speaking at a commemorative rally on former Chittagong City Corporation Mayor and city AL president ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury at Laldighi Maidan in the city.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, asked the city and district units of Awami League to resolve their disputes and unite the party.
He asked them to work unitedly to ensure party’s victory in the next general election.
About Mohiuddin, the ruling party leader said the vacuum created following his death will never be filled.
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, its Organising Secretary and Mohiuddin’s son Mahibul Hasan Nawfel and CCC Mayor AJM Nasiruddin were also present.
