LeBron James is the best in the world and just maybe the greatest of all-time.
But in Game 3 Wednesday, there was no player on earth better than Kevin Durant as the Warriors took Game 3 110-102 over the Cavaliers and now boasts a 3-0 lead in the NBA Finals.
Every time the Warriors needed a bucket, Durant got it. When Stephen Curry got into foul trouble and Klay Thompson couldn't hit a shot, Durant stepped up. When James threw an alley-oop to himself, Durant spearheaded a 14-point comeback.
No one was better than Durant Wednesday and it's hard to deny.
"Controlling what I can control, playing hard every possession and trying to do my best on the defensive side of the ball," Durant told ESPN after the game. "And get to my spots on offense."
The 29-year-old finished with 43 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists while going 15-of-23 shooting.
James did his part posting his NBA record 10th NBA Finals triple-double. He also tallied his 110th career 30-point playoff game which passed Michael Jordan for the most ever. Those were footnotes to Durant Wednesday though and the Warriors is on the brink of its third title in four years because of it. He finished with 33 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.
Game 4 is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET Friday.
STUDS OF THE NIGHT
Cavaliers forward Rodney Hood finally got his chance in the Finals and he made every second count. He finished with 15 points and six rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting on the night.
Warriors forward Jordan Bell put good minutes defensively on LeBron James, the boards and on the offensive end as well. He had 10 points and six rebounds on 4-of-5 shooting off the bench.
DUD OF THE NIGHT
Just one game after setting an NBA record with nine 3-pointers made in an NBA Finals game, Stephen Curry couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. Curry finished with 11 points on 3-of-16 shooting and was 1 for 10 from 3-point range.
HIGHLIGHT
LeBron James had the highlight of the night with his self-alley-oop in the first quarter, but Tristan Thompson broke out something little thought he had with a reverse lay-up in the second quarter.
WHAT'S NEXT
Warriors (3-0) at Cavaliers (0-3), Game 4, Friday, 9 p.m. ET — The Warriors tries to remedy its one mistake in the NBA Finals in 2017 as its one loss came to a historic shooting performance from the Cavaliers in Game 3. The Warriors withstood an early onslaught from the Cavaliers in Game 3, it will likely have to do the same thing Friday.
